Only creative companies with vision and a feeling for new ideas make it into the ranks of the top one hundred most innovative SMEs. Oerlikon Leybold was among them in 2011, and was presented with the Top 100 award by Lothar Spaeth in the Baltic resort of Warnemuende.
Traditionally, companies can only be sustainable if they are innovative. The vacuum specialist Leybold succeeded with its combination of tradition and innovation over the course of its history.
Oerlikon announced that it has signed an agreement to sell its Leybold Vacuum business to Atlas Copco. The transaction is based on an enterprise value of CHF 525 million and is expected to close by middle of the year 2016.
Beginning in 2015, Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum received a larger order from a Swiss equipment manufacturer. The company has developed various methods of food processing under vacuum, providing substantial improvements in product and process quality.
